A GROUP PHYSICAL THERAPY PROGRAM FOR THOSE LIVING WITH PARKINSON’S DISEASE
The Norman Regional Health System hosts a monthly support group for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease that live in the local area. This upcoming Thursday, October 6th from 7:00pm-8:30pm, Wes McFall, Doctor of Physical Therapy, will be presenting a free evidence based physical therapy program for Parkinson’s Disease patients. Dr. McFall of Therapy In Motion, specializes in treating patients with Parkinson’s. “LSVT BIG Therapy is a treatment approach for fighting symptoms caused by Parkinson’s Disease by actively practicing exaggerated motor and vocal exercises.”, said McFall. “The treatment program has shown significant results for decreasing Parkinson’s symptoms and improving patient motor and vocal control.” The meeting this week will overview the LSVT BIG Therapy philosophy and outline a typical treatment program.
Local physical therapy practice, Therapy In Motion, is initiating a group physical therapy class to meet the needs patients with Parkinson’s Disease. “Big Therapy is BIG, fast, and fun for participants. The four week class will meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for group physical therapy exercise.”, McFall explains. Interested participants and family are encouraged to attend the informational meeting this Thursday at the Norman Regional Health Education Center.
